The Program in Information Science + Information Studies is an Undergraduate and Graduate Certificate Program and Research Center at Duke University. Students in the ISIS Undergraduate Research Capstone develop a semester-long technology-based project as a team. This year's project, Augmented Duke, explores the use of marker-based augmented reality as a way into a student insider's view of life at Duke University.
This year's ISIS Capstone was taught by Professor Victoria Szabo, Art, Art History & Visual Studies and ISIS. The student developer team included:
Ramy Khorshed, Economics and ISIS, Duke '14
Shamaita Majumdar, Chemistry and ISIS, Duke '14
Chelsea Pieroni, Philosophy and ISIS, Duke '14
Samantha Tieger, Spanish and ISIS, Duke '14
In addition to being accessible from this website, our project is available as a Junaio channel, accessible from iOS and Android devices. Our customized
Duke/Durham Map is downloadable as a PDF file that can be printed out for later use. Download the free Junaio AR browser and then scan the barcode on the map to go to our channel. We have also packaged the project as a standalone mobile App, which we plan to release on the Apple and Google Play stores when we have finished refining our content.
The ISIS Program is housed in the historic
Smith Warehouse, one of the featured locations in our project!
